Information about our residency programme 2007 – 2011

The aim of the residency was to give an early career artist or maker the opportunity to develop new site specific work and to gain experience in working with the public as part of the St George’s Arts outreach programme. The successful applicant  benefited from a dedicated studio at St George’s Arts over the period of the residency and the opportunity to present work within the larger setting of the building as a whole. The studio was be open to visitors one day a week (and the building itself open to the public) and in addition the resident undertook occasional days working with the public in a range of ways which included running workshops, working with schools / adults and giving talks etc. At the end of the residency there was an exhibition and work was shown on an ongoing basis as the residency developed.

Preference was given to proposals for the space which showed how the applicant aimed to respond to the setting, building, history or people associated with St George’s Church or the local area.
